Heat Pump

Heating services in Orlando

What is a heat pump air conditioning system?  This is quite a common question and most people don’t even know what it does…. but they know they want one.

Before reviewing the heat pump, let’s talk about air conditioning basics:

When it comes to heat, it can’t be simply removed, it must be transferred.

AC systems take the warm air in your home and pass the air over the indoor coil. This allows the heat to be absorbed by the refrigerant flowing through the indoor coil.  This is a fancy way of making the air cooler than it was before which then drops the temperature and humidity in your house.  As heat is absorbed by the refrigerant flowing through the coil inside, it is then taken outside through the copper line set.

The heat pump works in direct opposite of the air conditioning cycle because we switch the way the refrigerant flows.  By doing this we allow superheated refrigerant and colder interior air to pass over that same interior coil so it can now absorb the heat to make the air warmer that it was before which in turn increases the temperature inside your home.

Heat pump or electric heat, which is best for you? Good question but a pretty simple answer.

The heat pump advantage: can cut your heating costs by 66% or 1/3 of the cost that it is to run your electric heat. Need I say more?
